We need to go far back in time to trace the first activities of the firm Gesink (formerly fa. Dimmedal).
Around 1860, they were already active as a driver for e.g. the municipality and the local timber trade. Around 1900 there was a regular service through horse and carriage to and from Doesburg. Flour was delivered in Doesburg, the return cargo consisted of gin and other beverages. An old (restored) wagon reminds us of those nostalgic times. In 1931 the first truck was purchased. However this was seized by the Germans during the Second World War. During the war, the truck was used to supply the military soup kitchens. After the war, the thread was picked up again and the fleet was expanded with 6 trucks, mainly for the transportation of sand and livestock. In 1958 the first new DAF was purchased, it was retrieved from the factory in Eindhoven. In 1966 the company was taken over by son-in-law Bennie Gesink and its name was changed from Dimmedal to Transport company Gesink. Until about 1980 the fleet had mainly been expanded with dump trucks, with which mostly sand and gravel was driven for various clients. From 1980 they switched to the cargo transport through the Netherlands, several years later the boundaries were moved, that is why you can find our cars throughout Europe.
